Dear Church Family,

Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Due to the inclement weather expected this week, and out of deep concern for the safety of our congregation, RockSpring leadership has made the prayerful decision to cancel both our Friday and Sunday in-person worship services. This decision was not made lightly. It was made out of love, responsibility, and a commitment to care for one another well. I am grateful for our faithful leaders who consistently place the well-being of our church family.

As I have been monitoring the approaching winter storm across North Texas, my heart has been drawn back to memories of my childhood. I grew up in Toronto, Canada—a place known for its long and often harsh winters. Snow was simply part of my life. As a student, I spent many days playing outside, walking to school, and learning how to live faithfully even in the coldest seasons. Winter was never unexpected; it was part of the rhythm God used to shape my daily life. After moving to Dallas, I never imagined winter would greet us here. And yet, here it is. Even in Texas, winter comes. Snow may fall. Seasons still change. This gentle reminder tells us something deeply spiritual: no matter where we live, we are all shaped by seasons we do not choose. And yet, God remains faithful to meet us in every one of them.

Winter has a way of slowing us down. Snow and ice quiet the roads, soften the noise of life, and invite us to pause. In moments like these, God reminds us that the Church is not defined by a building, but by a people—a people who belong to Him wherever they are. Even when the doors of our building are closed, the Church is very much alive. Worship does not stop. You can worship from your living room, around your kitchen table, or beside a window watching the snow fall. Where two or three gather in His name—or even when one heart turns toward Him—Christ is present.

I warmly invite you to join us online this Sunday at 11:00 AM for a worship message, along with guideline for engaging in family worship at home. There is also online intercessory prayer meeting at 9:15 AM on Sunday, lifting up our church and congregation before the Lord. There are many among us who need prayer—those facing surgery, illness, transitions, job searches, school decisions, unseen burdens and many unspoken prayers. Let us stand together in prayer, even while we are physically apart. Please stay warm, stay safe, and know that you are deeply loved and continually prayed for. I look forward to the day we gather again in person, rejoicing together when the weather clears and the roads are safe. Until then, may the peace of Christ be your shelter, and may His presence warm your heart more deeply than any fire ever could.

With love and prayer,

Rev Won D. Kim

Lead Pastor of RockSpring Church
