Pastoral Letter
Dear Beloved Saints!
A historic moment in the life of RockSpring Church has begun this week. This moment is the fruit of seven years of faithful prayer by the leadership who longed for an English-speaking church here at DCMC. God has worked in His perfect time and in His sovereign way. Since my arrival—when I was appointed as the lead pastor of what was then the Bridge Ministry—only six months have passed. Yet within those six months, we have transitioned into RockSpring Church, prepared worship bulletins, launched a public YouTube livestream for worship and sermons, established our official website, formed a leadership structure, and begun our 11:00 a.m. worship service while continuing our 2:00 p.m. service. Humanly speaking, what has taken place in just six months is impossible. This is not the result of human ability, strategy, or effort alone. It is clear evidence of God’s hand at work among us. What has unfolded in such a short time is something no person could accomplish. We are witnessing and experiencing what only God can do.
At the opening of the 11:00 a.m. service this week, many gathered to celebrate and worship with us. Members from the KM (Korean Ministry) also joined in worship, and it was especially moving to see our beloved English-speaking members who, for a long time, faithfully worshiped alongside the KM congregation using translation headsets because there was no place for them to worship in their own language. Now, to see them worship together at RockSpring Church—freely in their own language and cultural context, felt like watching people return home. It was a moment of deep gratitude for me. We were also blessed to see members who had been absent return once again. Although we do not know the exact number, we estimate that more than 150 people joined together in worship across our new 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM both services at RockSpring Community.
As I watched our leaders rehearse and prepare together—many of them doing this for the first time, all new, all foreign, yet being so faithful to pastoral direction and serving with willing and obedient hearts in many different places—I was overwhelmed with gratitude. Despite limited space and equipment, the worship team, media team, and hospitality team, all SLC and ELC including our PL Parish Leader and rest of all our members, served joyfully without a single complaint. Seeing everyone working diligently in every corner nearly brought me to tears. In a relatively short time since being appointed as pastor, I have already grown to deeply love the RockSpring community. Even more, I have come to love the God who leads RockSpring Church. Let us entrust RockSpring entirely into God’s hands. And because we have entrusted it to Him, we will do our very best and labor faithfully. Those who entrust everything to God give their best—and give all the glory to Him for the results.
To all who joined us in worship, we warmly welcome you. Thank you once again for giving me an opportunity to serve you as your pastor. I promise to serve you faithfully, to remain focused on the truth of God’s Word, and to minister with a heart of humility. Once again, thank you to our leadership, and thank you to each and every one of you. God has done this. God will do it. God will lead us. Soli Deo Gloria! To God be the GLORY!
Delighted in the Lord,
Rev. Won Kim
Lead Pastor of RockSpring Church
